Solar energy subscription
A solar energy subscription is a new way to use the sun's energy on your roof without buying equipment: you pay a fixed monthly amount for 3 or 5 years, with no upfront cost, no debt and nothing recorded against your home. You save at least 30% on your total bill, minimum charge included, guaranteed in writing and checked in a one-year review.
What a solar energy subscription is
It is a new way to have solar energy, distinct from buying, borrowing and leasing. You do not buy the system, so there is nothing left to pay off. The monthly payment stays fixed for the whole term, with no escalator, and you choose how long you want to be saving: 3 or 5 years.
The savings are not an estimate. The agreement guarantees in writing that you save at least 30% on your total bill, minimum charge included, calculated from your last 12 months of usage. At 12 months there is a one-year review: what you paid (subscription plus whatever was left on the bill) is compared against 70% of what you would have paid without the system. If you overpaid, you get the difference back, with no cap.
There is also a production guarantee: if the system produces less than the written annual minimum, you get back the equivalent percentage of the payment. The installation team puts it in, maintains it, insures it and repairs it, with a full warranty.
Why it matters in Florida
My Home Solutions offers the subscription in Central Florida, for homes within about 50 miles of Orlando: Orlando, Kissimmee, Davenport, Haines City, Poinciana, Clermont, Sanford and nearby. It fits people who are tired of salespeople and 25-year agreements: no debt, no escalator, and savings you can enforce in writing.
Your deed is not touched: nothing is recorded against your home, and the only filing is on the equipment. If you sell, the buyer can keep the subscription at no charge; if they do not want it (in writing), the agreement is canceled at no cost to you. If you do not renew at the end, the system is removed at no cost within 30 days and the roof is left sealed, with a 10-year roof warranty.
Who qualifies
- Owner of a single-family home (no condos, multifamily or mobile homes).
- Shingle roof with useful life left (no tile, no metal, no ground mounts).
- At least 12 months of usage history at that home.
- Owner’s name matching the county records.
- Duke Energy, FPL or TECO as the utility. Municipal utilities (OUC, KUA, Lakeland Electric) and cooperatives do not qualify.
- No heavy shade on the roof.
- A soft credit check that does not affect your score.
Heads up: it is not for everyone. It is solar energy only: no battery and no electrical panel upgrade included. And if your bill is very high, your roof is ideal and you have capital or strong credit, buying may save you more over 25 years.
Common mistake
Comparing it to a 25-year lease as if they were the same thing. The difference is the term and the guarantee: 3 or 5 years with savings enforceable in writing, versus 25 with an escalator and estimated savings. The other frequent confusion is expecting a $0 bill: the 30% is calculated on the total, minimum charge included, but the utility bill does not disappear.
