Editorial guidelines

How we write what we publish

Every guide on this site exists so a Central Florida homeowner makes a better decision. These are the rules we follow.

Who writes

Guides are signed by a real person with a name and role: Yorgan Rojo, energy advisor at My Home Solutions. If someone else writes or reviews, they appear in the byline.

Where the numbers come from

Every rate, cost, incentive or deadline figure has a source linked at the bottom of the guide. We prefer primary sources: the utility (Duke Energy, FPL, TECO), the IRS, the Department of Energy, the Florida Public Service Commission, NREL and EIA. When we use third-party estimates, we say so.

What we never do

We don’t promise a zero bill: the utility’s minimum charge always arrives. We don’t sell with "up to X%". We don’t invent testimonials or press logos. We don’t hide when an option doesn’t make sense for you.

About the 30%

The subscription’s at-least-30% savings is calculated from your last 12 months of usage, includes your utility’s minimum charge and is put in writing before installation. Every home is reviewed separately.

When we update

Every guide shows its last review date. We review rates and programs when they change and, at minimum, once a year. If you find outdated information, message us on WhatsApp.

How we make money

My Home Solutions is compensated when a subscription is installed. That is why we say it plainly: if buying, or doing nothing, makes more sense for you, the guides say so anyway.

Languages

We write in Spanish first and publish an equivalent English version. If you notice a difference between the two, the most recent version prevails.
